Bald Eagle Watch

I spent Saturday morning going on an Eagle Watch at the Mississinewa River near Peru, Indiana to check out a Bald Eagle roosting site with my friend Nick who works for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. We saw about 25 eagles, mostly from very far away. One day last year over 150 were counted at this site.

Shooting Birds

After a long time of trying to attract birds to our new house we have finally succeeded! Here are a few images of a Red Breasted Nuthatch, a vocal bird that is now a regular visitor to our yard.

On Assignment: Walk in the Woods

I knew it would be a good day when one of my assignments was to go for a walk in the woods. The area I was sent to is a new piece of land acquired from the Girl Scouts and will be turned into a nature area and community woodlands. However the area is infested with the invasive Asian Bush Honeysuckle that is destroying woodlands by shading out the ground preventing other plants from growing.

Sandhill Cranes

I went up to Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area this week to check out the Sandhill Crane migration. What an amazing site to see thousands of these birds come to one field at the same time in the evening.
