San Francisco - Yosemite - Sonoma

It was that time of year again when we went to explore a new area over my wife's birthday. We decided on San Francisco, then over to Yosemite, and then on to wine country. I really debated what cameras / gear to bring with me before I left and after some hesitation I decided once again just to bring along my little Fuji X100s. It was a good decision. Sure I missed some things but the convenience of being able to travel light, and take it everywhere I went made up for the missed opportunities.

San Francisco is a great city. It's easy to see why people love the place... other than being cold in the summer and really expensive. There is so much to do and so many neighborhoods and areas to explore. We set out to avoid some of the tourist traps but ended up checking some out, at least for an hour or so.

After San Francisco we headed out on the four hour drive to Yosemite National Park. We stayed in the small town of Oakhurst near the south entrance of the park. Yosemite is an amazing place, pictures can't really show the size of the place. I felt very small compared to the huge slabs of granite and giant sequoia trees. It is definitely on my list of places to return to.

Finally we headed out to wine country and decided on Sonoma over Napa after talking to local people. We drank some good wine, explored some wineries, and spent too much cash.
